Biography Andrea Fronk of Harpist Houston provides classical and contempory music for elegant events in the East Texas area. In Galveston, she has experience at establishments such as the Hotel Galvez, Ashton Villa, and the 1894 Grand Opera House. In Houston, she frequents venues such as The Coronado Club, Movado Jewelry Boutique, and fine dining establishments such as the Brownstone. Mrs. Fronk was featured at the 2007 Dickens on the Strand Feast at Garten Verein, an event attended by the mayor of Galveston, hosted by the Galveston Historical Foundation. Andrea has represented Adams & Green Entertainment at the Bridal Extravaganza at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Harpist -- Andrea Fronk Andrea began studying the harp 18 years ago with Joy Yu Hoffman, acclaimed classical and folk harpist of Chicago. She furthered her studies with Sarah Bullen, Principal Harpist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (formerly Principal Harpist of the New York Philharmonic), and with Dr. Alison Attar. She acquired a music scholarship at Brigham Young University while studying with ShruDeLi Ownbey. She chose to broaden her focus by graduating in Biology while continuing performing, offering 13 years of professional musical experience. She has been featured in master classes with Judy Loman and Lynne Aspnes, among other accomplishments listed below. Upon moving to the Houston area, she was well received at a recital for the Houston professional harpists of the American Harp Society. She is associated with the Galveston Island Arts Academy. Performances & Accomplishments 2007: Guest Artist, Concerto Soloist with the Kingwood Pops--Home for the Holidays, Nathaniel Center 2007: "Carols of the Southwest" for Harp, Guitar, & Choir Concert -- 1st Lutheran Church, Galveston 2007: In the Galveston Daily News -- Harp Demonstration for the Lutheran Arts Academy 2007: Soloist -- American Harp Society Recital, Houston 2001: Position in Brigham Young University's top Harp Ensemble 2001: BYU Music Scholarship 2000: Best Talent Award, Miss Teen of Illinois -- performing David Watkins' Fire Dance 1998-1999: Principal harpist - Host orchestra for Aberdeen, Scotland Orchestra Festival & Banff, Canada Music Festival 1997-1999: Illinois All-State Musician -- 1st chair Harp 1996: Principal Harpist - Interlochen Arts Camp Intermediate Symphony Orchestra 1995: Alphonse Hasselmans Award - Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Orchestral Experience Under the batons of Alan Dennis and James Loughran, Mrs. Fronk has performed works by Berlioz, Bloch, Britten, Debussy, Holst, Mahler, Puccini, Ravel, Respighi, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Wagner, e.g. Mrs. Fronk is the former principal harpist of the Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra, a position which she held for five years. Mrs. Fronk is experienced as a symphony musician, with groups such as the Galveston Symphony and the Kingwood Pops Orchestra.
